Disclaimer: Humans have urges and impulses, it's a simple fact of life. Girls have them, guys have them, and there's really no sense in denying it. The modern media exploits the chemical reactions in our bodies more than it probably should, but then again, sex sells. Women want to look at handsome, well built men, and men want to look at beautiful, lithe (and somehow also busty) women. The sooner we can accept this dynamic, the sooner we can accept that guys are just going to drool over hot women, whether they're animated, digitally rendered, or made of real, juicy, flesh.
Now, with that out of the way, I'd like to talk about some of the most attractive women any geeky graphic designer has ever dreamed up and made a digital reality. Thankfully, games are one medium that, rather than portray women as secondary to men, has taken the leap to making women strong characters who, more and more often, ably (and amply, if you catch my drift) fill the role of protagonist.
Lara Croft - If you don't know this dungeon diving, cave spelunking, demon wrecking knockout of a female lead, you've been living under a rock for the past fifteen years. Or perhaps you were so entranced by her (mysteriously pointy), ahem, upper body back in 1996 that you've been completely catatonic ever since. Either way, she can kick your ass, save the world and be back for high tea all within a day. She's definitely earned her place as one of gaming's hottest women.
Ada Wong - She first appeared in Resident Evil 2, stringing a rookie Leon Kennedy along by his manh...err, with clues regarding the zombie infestation. Considering the fact that she managed not to die in a city packed full of ravenous, man-eating zed-heads (not to mention monsters and mutated animals), she comes across as one tough broad. Unlike the practical-dressing Lara Croft, Ada manages to do her clandestine work looking like she's headed out on an expensive date. I'm sure Leon had no complaints, though.
Aya Brea - We haven't seen a Parasite Eve game in quite some time - a real shame. However, that does nothing to dull the memory of Ms. Aya Brea, the woman who single-handedly saved New York City from a mutating super-organism. Unlike Ada, though, Aya was already OUT on a date (in her cute slit dress) when everyone at the opera spontaneously combusted except her (and her date...unfortunately).
The DOA Girls - Okay, so if these girls don't just outright kick you around and toss you over the side of a cliff, they'll probably suffocate you with their major boobage anyway. Personally, I can live with that. Dead Or Alive pretty much invented the 'jiggle' concept, and men everywhere have been thanking the god of gaming ever since. And who can blame them? It's pure marketing genius to put attractive women, street fighting and ample bosom in one package.
Which female game character is your favorite ogle fodder?
