Christmas is perhaps the most musical of holidays. From the day after Thanksgiving until late evening on Christmas Day, we hear artists of all kinds doing their renditions of our favorite holiday music.
From the classic (but poorly titled) 'White Christmas', all the way to the overly wordy 'It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas', we're bombarded with images of red, rosy faces, happy families, glistening snow, and giant, chomping soldiers. It's hard to fault the sentiment, and besides, it's even harder to dislike the inherent happiness that goes along with the Christmas season.
But, have you ever read the lyrics to 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town'? It tells the tale of a man with powers befitting Big Brother, able to watch children at all times of the day or night to determine if they're following the party line. So, parents, maybe you want to think twice before telling your kid that Santa's elves are hiding behind the the bushes.
However, one musical troupe seems to understand. CKY's version of 'Santa's Coming' is pretty candid about Santa's actual job. He beats chicken-men into submission and generally treats his workers like crap, all while keeping the kids in line. I'd say that's pretty accurate.
Do any other Christmas songs rub you the wrong way?
